YOGIC WAYS FOR GOOD EYESIGHT
With age the muscles behind the eyes gets weak and our eye-sight starts falling. Even tender aged school going children may also be seen using spectacles due to week eyes. Its main symptoms are burning in the eyes, watering of eyes, seeing hazy or dim eyes, short sightedness, heaviness of head etc. Yoga offers some yogic sukshamavyama like Netra Shakti Vikasak, Tratak, Asanas and Pranayama. If practiced regularly the week eyesight can be improved. And along with this if one is following dietary recommendation; the result will be faster and accurate.
1. NETRA SHAKTI VIKASAK KRIYAS
A. Blinking of eyes: Blink the eyes quickly 10 times close and release. Do it at least 100 times in a day.
B. Focusing exercises: Sit in comfortable position with your eyes open. Fix your gaze at the nail of the right thumb keep the fist of the right hand closed with thumb stretched up in level with eyes.
Slowly bring the hand near to eyes for a few seconds then take the right hand away from you still maintaining the level and gaze as before. Repeat it three times.
C. Candle Gazing: Sit in comfortable position burn a candle and sit at least 4 feet away from the candle and start gazing at candle if water comes from your eyes then close it and relax. After few second start doing once again. Do it at least 3 times.
D. Palming: Rub the palms till they become warm. Place the palms gently over the eyes, keep both the hands in such a manner no light would enter the eyes continue the practice for 1 to 3 minutes. Palming revitalizes the eye muscles and improves circulation of eye fluid, there by improving the vision.
E. Water Cleansing: Take a wide mouthed bowel, full of clean and cold water. Now tilt the head downward putting the right eye in the water with eye-lid open. Roll the eyeball around in the same condition. Do it with other eye in a same manner. Do it at least with both the eyes 5 time each eye.
F. Up-Down Viewing: With-out moving head or the neck, look up and down. Repeat it at least 50 times.
G. Circular movement of the eyes: Keep your head and back straight. Try to rotate your eyes clockwise position start from 12 clock, then 3 clock 6 clocks and 9 clock so on till you complete the round. Make 5 rounds then do it anti clock wise in a same manner.
2. ASANA:
1. Sarvangasana Method: Lie down on the back and relax completely. Slowly raise the legs, hips and trunk in a continuous movement until vertical. Raise the legs -- keeping the knees straight and hips by supporting the arms on the ground then bend the elbows and hold the trunk in the hand. In this posture the chin in buried in the upper chest. Retain the position as long as it is comfortable. Then come down slowly. Relax do it only once.
BENEFITS: Blood supply to the organs in the upper part of the body such as eyes, heart, face, thyroid, roots of spinal nerves and brain. As a result circulatory congestion is relived and hormones flow into blood freely. This asana used in yoga therapy for the treatment of Asthma, Diabetes, Colitis, Thyroid disorders, Impotence and Menopause.
CAUTION: Those suffering from High B.P, Heart Ailments, Cervical pain and slipped disc should refrain from doing this asana.

Will facial exercises/repetitive motion actually increase wrinkles? * No, the facial muscles are involuntary muscles, so doing a program of trained repetitions can actually reduce the wrinkles. * Facial expressions that you constantly make due to stress and other factors are more likely to cause wrinkles.
Crow's feet * To help combat crow's feet, isolate your lower eyelids and wink with only your lower eyelid. * To create resistance and really build the muscle, place your index finger in the area of the crow's feet while winking the lower eyelid. * Do about 20 repetitions on each eye.
Upper eyelid * To tone the upper eyelid area, close your eyes and hold down your upper eyelid (not with your fingers—just try to 'glue down' your eyelid firmly) to the lower eyelid for 5-10 seconds. * Do several repetitions to build the muscle.
Keeping a face yoga routine * Since you will be training new muscles on your face it is best to start with your problem area and focus on that. * Perform these face yoga exercises a minimum of two times per week in the mornings.

Did you know that you can keep the muscles in your cheeks firm and younger-looking through face yoga? Here are some exercises you can use to tone your cheeks and keep them from drooping.
These exercises concentrate on the following sets of muscles: * The risorius and zygomaticus, which run along the cheek bone area. * The buccinators, which form the apple of the cheek.
The Satchmo * Inhale, hold your breath, and alternately puff your breath back and forth from cheek to cheek, puffing out each cheek as you do so. * Repeat until you run out of breath, and then exhale through your mouth.
The Marionette * Wrinkle your nose up and down, the way that a bunny would. * Place your index fingers in the crease on either side of your nose. Apply pressure to create resistance as you move your nose up and down. * Do not move your eyebrows. * It may be helpful to try to smile as you do the exercise. * Do three sets of 20 repetitions.
The Prom Queen * Stretch the corners of your mouth toward your ears with a slightly upward smile as though you are laughing out loud. * Widening your eyes will help with the exercise and can also help prevent eye creases. * You should feel a stretch in your lips toward your ears. * Hold the stretch for five to ten seconds.
Smiling Fish Face * Suck in your cheeks and pucker your lips to imitate a fish face. * Try to smile simultaneously as you hold the fish face

The meditation technique which you are going to read is 'Trataka' (also known as third eye meditation). In the belief system of 'Tantra' and 'Hatha Yoga' there is a concept of Kundalini .
[ Have you ever heard of Tantra or 'Hatha' Yoga ? If not then let me tell you very briefly that 'Tantra' is a sort of esoteric spiritual path that involves doing a number of activities which seem bizarre and odd to many people. Soon I'll write a separate article on Tantra. Keep watching ' New Articles' 'Hatha' Yoga is a branch of Yoga and it involves indulging in various physical exercises and breathing routines (known as Pranayam.) Many things in 'Hatha Yoga' and Tantra are common' . In this article, without going into the details of Tantra, Hatha Yoga or Pranayam, I have tried to present a simple meditation technique of third eye. The topics of Tantra, Hatha & Pranayam will be covered in other articles soon] It has been discovered that there are seven chakras (or points of consciousness) in our body. These Chakras (literally Chakra means rings) are situated at different points in our body. Among these Chakras, the 6th Chakra is known as ' Aagya Chakra' located between the eyebrows and is said to be the seat of the mystical "third eye". The physical location of this chakra is at the center of our forehead. Just above the place between our eyes. It is believed that Kundalini (the energy field) travels from the first Chakra (also known as Muladhara Chakra, situated at the base of our spine) and travels to 2nd, 3rd, 4th.....chakra to reach the 7th Chakra of Sahasrara. Here it meets with the Supreme Consciousness- Shiva. The 'Agya Chakra' is the 6th chakra (the second last Chakra in the path of Kundalini).
This 3rd eye meditation revolves around this 6th center of consciousness - Agya Chakra. This Agya Chakra' is considered as the center where our third eye resides. Though there is no physical third eye present in the body but at a more subtle, spiritual plane it has been experienced by many people that a stimulating center of consciousness exist here. Trataka (or third eye meditation) is the meditation technique of 'Agya Chakra'. When we focus our awareness on third eye, we automatically and instantly attain a meditative state.
Now without further going into the scientific explanation or spiritual significance of this meditation technique let us learn the exact method of this simple meditation technique of 'Trataka' which may take you into a meditative state instantly.
