Here is a great chest superset you can do at home with a cheap dumbbell set. Big gyms are nice but when you can get a killer workout at home without the overhead of getting to and from the gym. In this chest superset I am going to do incline press followed immediately by an incline fly variant. Make sure and use a really light weight on the flys so you can maintain good form.
As with all dumbbell exercises, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Dumbbell shrugs are my favorite trap exercise. I know this is a really simple exercise and it seems silly to make a video showing how to do it but I have gotten many requests for it. This is an easy exercise to do at home, all you need is a set of used dumbbells.
Here is the way I suggest doing the dumbbell shrug.
1) Grab the dumbbells with your palms facing in
2) let the weights hang at your side
3) keep your arms straight, dont bend the elbow
4) put your shoulders back, try to squeeze your shoulder blades together
5) go up and down slowly, as far up and far down as you can
6) dont roll the shoulders!!!!

Here is a killer arm workout you can do at home with just a set of dumbbells to help get those huge guns, I'm sore for days after doing this workout. This is an arm workout for the advanced bodybuilder, if you are new to bodybuilding please check my website for a more appropriate workout.
There are six exercises, three for biceps and three for triceps. The entire workout takes 45 minutes and there is very little down time. Make sure you have done warm-up sets for both biceps and triceps before starting this workout because we start in with really heavy weights and you don't want to get injured.
Intensity and focus are really important when you do this workout. Don't hold back anything, treat every set as if it were your last. I know I sound stupid with all my grunting and groaning but when I give it 110%, I can't help it. In this workout we do one exercise for biceps then without rest do the opposing triceps muscle. Here is the workout:
Biceps: dumbbell curl using forced negatives
Triceps: skull crushers Rest 60-90s while preparing dumbbells for next exercises
Biceps: Twenty-ones with barbell
Triceps: narrow grip bench press Rest 60-90s while preparing dumbbells for next exercises
Biceps: reverse grip barbell curls
Triceps: dumbbell kick backs
Repeat the above five times, the complete workout should take about 45 minutes. If you don't like reconfiguring the dumbbells all the time you can also just do each bicep/triceps combo 5X and then move on to the next combo.

In doing flys, make sure that your arms do NOT go behind the plane of your body as this puts too much stress on the shoulder joint. Normally with flys, the arms are kept perpendicular to the body but in this variant I pretend I am doing cables from the lower pulley so I start with my hands pointing down to the ground and finish with them over the top of my head. This exercise is tough so use light weights and make sure to use slow, controlled form.

This is part two of my advanced pushup series. I will be doing 5 different types of advanced pushups and then I will combine them into one heck-of-a-chest workout.
The backpack pushup allows you to work out your chest much harder than with a normal pushup.
This is NOT a beginners exercise, it is for advanced bodybuilders only. If you have not been lifting for at least 6 months, dont even consider doing this because you will most likely get injured.
There are several other unique exercises in my advanced pushup series that I will be putting up individually also. Thanks for your patience, the advanced pushup video IS coming but it takes a long time to edit.

The barbell curl is a great mass building exercise for the arms you can do at home with just an inexpensive barbell set. Form is key on this, most folks at the gym use terrible form. In this exercise, your elbows are pinned to your sides - the do not move one bit. Nothing moves except your your forearms. Your back, legs, head are all completely motionless. If you have to swing or bounce then you are using way too much weight.
As with any dumbbell exercise, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don't use too much weight, if you can't do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud "one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand" on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise.
Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

Reverse curls are great to finish off your arm workout because they give you a great pump - brushing your teeth is tough after doing these!
This exercise is done with the palms facing down instead of facing up like in a standard barbell curl, This exercise is much more difficult to do than a barbell curl so dont use a lot of weight, start with about 35% of what you can do with the palms up.
These can be done using the preacher bench as shown here or from a standing position. I suggest doing these at the end of your arm workout when your biceps are good and weak, that way, even though the bicep is stronger than the forearm they are both worked out evenly.
The muscle size increase in a pump is short lived, typically much less than an hour. A pump is not a sign of permanent growth, rather an indication that you have worked out hard and that bloodflow has increased to the muscle.
Forearm exercises are tough on the elbows and we don't want you getting tendonitis so only use the amount of weight that lets you use slow, controlled form. If you have any pains in your elbow region, see your doctor before doing these!
