Music Inspired by Barack Obama, (the beat from Queen's We Will Rock You) and the idea that we can make a difference. Yes we can.
After watching his speech and getting truly inspired, I spent some sleepless nights creating this piece and it was finished in the morning of January 28th, 2008.
If anyone would like to make a better video for the song I made, please let me know. Feel free to use the audio in your own video, please give credit where it is due is all I ask.

According to will.i.am, founding member and frontman of Black Eyed Peas, the "Yes We Can Song" was inspired by Senator Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign and especially the speech Obama gave following the New Hampshire primary. He states, "It made me reflect on the freedoms I have, going to school where I went to school, and the people that came before Obama like Martin Luther King, presidents like Abraham Lincoln that paved the way for me. . . ." Dylan says, "The speech was inspiring about making change in America and I believe what it says and I hope everybody votes."
The music video includes excerpts from Obama's speech and appearances from several celebrities: Scarlett Johansson, John Legend, Herbie Hanc*ck, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta, and Nick Cannon. "I'm blown away by how many people wanted to come and be a part of it in a short amount of time. It was all out of love and hope for change and really representing America and looking at the world," will.i.am said.

I was sent a link tonight (Feb. 2, 2008) from Esthero, who appeared in the original video and song. This project inspired me beyond words. I decided to figure out the guitar chords, print out the lyrics and record this version live, in one take on my laptop. I did this all within an hour or so of seeing the clip for the first time. This was a completely improvised musical performance; I did the best I could.
I am a singer-songwriter from New York; I hope you enjoy my version of this song and can take something away from the intention behind the project. I am going to post more about the song and the chords for anyone looking to learn and perform it.
