Video clip showing proper form for the french press exercise for triceps. This is a great exercise you can do at home with just an inexpensive barbell set. If you want big arms, remember that the triceps is actually a bigger muscle than the biceps so dont neglect it!
As with any dumbbell exercise, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don't use too much weight, if you can't do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud "one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand" on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise.
Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn't have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

EZ Curl Curls are a classic biceps exercise.
They are the biceps isolation exercise which allows you to use the most significant resistance.
When you perform the EZ curl biceps curls, it is important to keep both elbows at your sides. This will allow your hands to be fully supinated at the end of the motion which will be maximal biceps recruitment.
Don't Put your lower back into these.

I was hesitant to put straight bar curls up. This is an effective biceps exercise which you should sparingly.
People who perform straight bar curls more than once every couple weeks are more likely to develop wrist problems.
Since dumbbells allow freedom of motion at your wrists they are a safer way to build your biceps. Since you cannot supinate with a barbell as you curl, dumbbells may be a better overall choice.
When you perform barbell curls, make sure you do not flex your wrists to keep the tension on your biceps.
Take a slightly wider than shoulder width grip and keep your elbows in at your sides while you perform biceps curls.
Keep your core, glutes, and shoulders tight while you perform barbell curls.
No rocking, you are not "reverse power cleaning"
Again, especially if you work a desk job with lots of computer use, you may want to refrain from using straight bar curls in your weight training program.

Here is a killer arm workout you can do at home with just a set of dumbbells to help get those huge guns, I'm sore for days after doing this workout. This is an arm workout for the advanced bodybuilder, if you are new to bodybuilding please check my website for a more appropriate workout.
There are six exercises, three for biceps and three for triceps. The entire workout takes 45 minutes and there is very little down time. Make sure you have done warm-up sets for both biceps and triceps before starting this workout because we start in with really heavy weights and you don't want to get injured.
Intensity and focus are really important when you do this workout. Don't hold back anything, treat every set as if it were your last. I know I sound stupid with all my grunting and groaning but when I give it 110%, I can't help it. In this workout we do one exercise for biceps then without rest do the opposing triceps muscle. Here is the workout:
Biceps: dumbbell curl using forced negatives
Triceps: skull crushers Rest 60-90s while preparing dumbbells for next exercises
Biceps: Twenty-ones with barbell
Triceps: narrow grip bench press Rest 60-90s while preparing dumbbells for next exercises
Biceps: reverse grip barbell curls
Triceps: dumbbell kick backs
Repeat the above five times, the complete workout should take about 45 minutes. If you don't like reconfiguring the dumbbells all the time you can also just do each bicep/triceps combo 5X and then move on to the next combo.

The stability ball hip extension is meant to be a glute exercise not a lower back exercise.
If you do not "feel" it in your glutes, there is no point to doing it. Regress to an easier exercise.
This is a fun way to get some leg and glute work done during lying french press.
In this case a body bar is used, but you can use dumbbells too.
Make sure when you perform the french press you let it down all the way behind your head, this will involve the long head of the triceps.
Perform this one in 2 separate actions. Keep the bar behind your head for a triceps isometric contraction as you perform the hip extension.
After you perform the hip extension and hold it for a second perform a french press.
Remember you should feel each exercise's target muscles, if you don't your form is off or you may have a posture problem.

Dumbbell pullovers are an old school exercise which you can use on a variety of work out days.
They are a great heavy load for the long head of your triceps.
My favorite use for dumbbell pullovers is to finish off a chest back superset workout.
You can also perform triceps extensions at the end of your set to work more triceps.
Make sure you keep your arms slightly bent, your elbows in towards each other and don't drop the 85 lb. dumbbell on your head.
