I'm not sure what's funnier, the chaos outside the window or the conversation that went on in the apartment.(more)(less)

This winter storm caused many traffic accidents because of western Washington's hilly terrain. However, road crews did their best to sand, plow, and deice the Puget Sound area. Most schools were canceled.
Note: I just happened by chance upon this accident, but there were many others I heard on my scanner. I can't really figure out why the bus was stuck or why it slid out there. You notice there appears to be a dry spot under his rear tires. And there is no major incline at that particular place in the road . . . hmmmmm, maybe I should have asked the driver what happened, but I had a feeling he was not having a good day and decided to leave that one a mystery :) (I'm not trying to imply the bus driver is a bad driver.)

Location: Bellevue, WA
A lot of snow and ice covered Western Washington for a few days in January. The snow fell fast and stuck on the night of January 10, 2007. Temperatures then dropped to around 20 degrees Fahrenheit and stayed that way until about the 15th of January. If you're not from Washington and wondering why Washingtonians freak out so much when it snows, it is because of the our mountainous region . . . many of us live on hills or at least go over one or two on the way to our jobs or school. Speaking of "school", it was obviously canceled, and the first day it reopened buses operated on emergency snow routes (in most areas). Metro bus drivers were told not to stop at bus-stops that were located on the upward half of hills so they wouldn't get stuck. Many people had to abandon their cars if they didn't have chains. And police in some areas were only responding to injury accidents, because there were so many minor ones. The WSDOT and local government worked round the clock to clear roads of slippery ice and snow, but some people were forced to stay in their homes and let the snow melt before venturing out. Hope you enjoy my little video. Thanks for watching!
