Winnipeg is the capital and largest city in the Canadian province of Manitoba located in the prairies of Western Canada. It is also the geographical heart of North America. Winnipeg is the capital of Manitoba. With around 700,000 people, the city has been a trading center for more than an astonishing 6,000 years. Crowned by the famous Golden Boy, the Legislative Building is considered one of the finest in the country. Winnipeg is home to historic architecture; distinctive neighbourhoods; scenic waterways; a heritage river; and numerous parks, including Assiniboine Park. Near the famous crossroads of Portage and Main is the via train station, a station that was designed by the same firm that made Grand Central Station. Close by is the Forks market. For at least 6000 years, the Forks has been the meeting place for early Aboriginal peoples, and since colonization has also been a meeting place for European fur traders, M�tis buffalo hunters, Scottish settlers, riverboat workers, railway pioneers and tens of thousands of immigrants. The Forks Market's first floor contains mostly food shops, where specialty items can be found as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. The second floor is home to many ethnic shops, as well as a ballet conservatory and a large craft store among other things. Across the large courtyard you may find Johnson Terminal, home of Finn's Pub, an Old Spaghetti Factory, more shops and a large cooperative antique store in the basement. There are often buskers in and around the Forks, who must audition for a buskers license to perform there. Near the forks is the Esplanade Riel. The Esplanade Riel is a pedestrian bridge located in Winnipeg, Manitoba designed by �tienne Gaboury of Wardrop Engineering and completed in 2003. It spans the Red River connecting downtown Winnipeg with St. Boniface. It is paired with a vehicular bridge, Provencher Bridge. The bridge is only one of a few in the world in that it has a restaurant (Salisbury House) on it, giving patrons an excellent view of the river and in its rarely seen structure. The Esplanade Riel has become a landmark and is used in many promotional materials. Winnipeg is known for it's cold winters, and above average summers. This is a spring time version of Winnipeg. In 1979, the cast and crew of Rainbow made a special exclusive sketch for the Thames TV staff Christmas tape, sometimes referred to as the "Twangers" episode. This show featured plenty of deliberate s*xual innuendo (beginning with Zippy peeling a banana, saying "One skin, two skin, three skin, four..." before being interrupted), and never shown at the time (as it was never intended to be screened to the general public.) It also included Geoffrey convincing the viewers to play with their balls, but if they didn't have any balls, they could ask a friend and play with his. Jane also claimed that she was banging with Rod and Roger. Soon, Zippy asked them to stop suggesting whether to play with a blowing tube and maraccas, so they could start singing the 'Plucking Song'. The clip became famous after being aired on Victor Lewis-Smith's Channel 4 programme TV Offal (1997) and was jokingly referred to as "the pilot episode", which it clearly wasn't as Geoffrey Hayes was presenter at the time. The clip has become widely-spread, first in emails as an attachment and later via online video websites such as YouTube. This has led to many erroneous claims that the episode was publicly broadcast as a regular episode. TV Offal also broadcast some very risqu� material featuring members of the cast as guests on a variety show hosted by comedian Jim Davidson in the 1980s; the sketch in question, which featured former children's TV presenter Tommy Boyd, asking a question about Adam and Eve. Boyd and Davidson used some profanities in the sketch, along with some innuendo from George (presumably again not intended for broadcast like the above), but the most shocking moment was when Zippy exclaimed to Geoffrey: "The fu*king Garden of Eden!" This sketch would in all likelihood have been filmed during rehearsals. Comedian Bobby Davro also parodied Rainbow as a comedy sketch in his own TV series in the early-1990s, playing the part of Geoffrey alongside exaggerated versions of Bungle and the puppets, which contained some mild s*xual innuendo. Davro had appeared in a regular edition of the show, in which he performed impressions of the characters in front of them. While never explicitly adu*lt, most interviews featuring Zippy and George since the show's demise commonly portray them as somewhat more edgy in terms of personality.
